Did you ever wonder why some deer raisers are successful and others are losers? Al Glick wants to share with you the secrets of successfully raising deer for profit by giving you the following examples.
Mr. Success purchases two doe fawns for Two Thousand Dollars each with both having super genetic backing, and one buck fawn for Four Thousand Dollars.
Mr. Loser spends five hundred dollars each on two doe fawns and one thousand on a buck fawn with no background genetics. He starts out spending $6,000.00 less than Mr. Success in the beginning purchase of his animals. After ten years, he may have raised 60 mature bucks which may possibly average only 2,000.00 each, making a total sales of 120,000.00.
The expenditures of the two investors are nearly similar because the feed and fencing costs are about the same. Mr. Success usually keeps good track of his records, but it is enjoyable when seeing gain. On the other hand, the profit of ten years labor for Mr. Loser may even be zero, if his expenses are as high as his sales.
What happens to Mr. Success? With good genetics at the start, if he had the same number of mature bucks as Mr. Loser, his 60 mature bucks would be more likely to average six thousand dollars each or more! This would give him 360,000.00. Thus, at spending the same 120,000 for expenses, HE COULD HAVE A POSSIBLE PROFIT IN TEN YEARS OF 240,000.00 on just the BUCKS alone! This is 24,000 per year profit! But the interesting fact is, most of the profit will not happen until toward the end of the ten years, for it takes years for the greater number of bucks to be born, and then 3 to 4 more years for them to be approaching maturity. When it comes to does, the good genetics for big antlers are said to carry the strongest on the doe side.
